The stranger
I know I am too young to say this, because the best days may be yet to come but i can confidently say that till this moment my school days were the best days of my life.Recently my mother wanted me to clean up my cupboards where I have saved all my little treasures since my school days. Then i stumbled upon this set of clippings some of them are the poems which i wrote when i was in school.Well i was not ardent poet who wrote out of instinct..as we say necessity is the mother of invention most of the poems i wrote in my school days were outcome of inter-house versification competitions :).Rest I owe to my English teacher who was very keen on developing our intellectual skills.I am just publishing here one of such poems which I wrote in my school days,to be precise in my 9th std.It may be a bit crude to be published here since it has the technical follies of a 13 year old poet :).
The Stranger
She took her notepad and tried to draw,
But her hands failed her,for they were weak,
She tried to lean to the little window,
For it was her only way to the word.
She watched anxiously towards the garden,
The flowers swayed,trees fruit-laden.
She wished to touch them, but knew couldn't ever,
For she was confined to this bed forever.
She saw a sparrow's nest on the tree.
She watched the little bird lings chirp.
Suddenly a mighty eagle swept past,
and then the bird ling breathed its last.
Now she saw the stranger near,
The stranger, from whom she waited to hear.
She waited and waited for him to come,
She waited for him remaining calm.
She didn't know how he looked.
Was he handsome?
Was he sinister?
Was he someone really good?
-----------------------------------------------
Everybody was around her bed that day.
They new she should struggle, there's no way.
She closed her eyes and was at peace.
She knew the stranger would surely come today.
She wanted to break the bonds that held her back.
She wanted to get the joy she lacked.
She slowly soared into the state of bliss and joy,
Her soul jumped like a school boy.
She sensed the sun going down to set.
She knew, for what she longed, she would get.
She was ready, the countdown has begun,
Any moment,any time,he may come.
But then she felt him very near.
His lips were uttering sleep my dear,
His hands fondled her head,and
Then he closed her eyes,
And soon ,she was in a deep slumber to wake never.
